Beach Tour FAQ

Is the water cold in Paleokastritsa?
Yes, due to deep-sea currents, the water on the West coast is often 2-3 degrees cooler than the East. It is incredibly refreshing in the peak of July!
Which beaches are sandy vs pebbly?
Generally, the West and South are sandy (Glyfada, Issos). The North and East are primarily smooth white pebbles (Barbati, Kassiopi).
Do I need a boat license?
No! You can rent motorboats with engines up to 30hp with no license required. It’s the best way to see the hidden grottoes.
Are there facilities at wild beaches like Rovinia?
Usually not. Sometimes a “canteen boat” docks to sell snacks, but it’s best to bring your own water and picnic supplies.
Is Porto Timoni a hard hike?
It takes about 20-30 minutes. The path is rocky and steep in parts, so wear sneakers rather than flip-flops. Check out our Hike to Porto Timoni Guide for full details.
