An Overview of Nymphes Waterfalls

Hidden in a lush, green gorge near the traditional village of Nymphes lies one of North Corfu’s most magical secrets. According to local legend, the Nymphs (Naiads) of ancient myth used to bathe in these waters, giving the area its name. The waterfalls cascade down moss-covered rocks into small pools, creating a cool, shaded oasis that feels a world away from the sunny coast. It is a beautiful, off-the-beaten-path spot for nature lovers, but it’s crucial to know that the water flow is highly seasonal, making a visit in spring or early summer the most rewarding experience.

In-Depth Guide & Details

Getting There & Location

The waterfalls are located just outside Nymphes village, in the foothills of Mount Pantokrator.

  • By Car & Parking: A car or scooter is the only practical way to visit. The site is signposted from Nymphes village. The final road is narrow. You can park on the roadside near the small taverna at the entrance to the path.
  • By Bus: This is not a recommended option. While a bus may go to Nymphes village, it would be a very long and complicated walk from the village centre to the waterfalls themselves.

Tickets & Access
  • Tickets: Access to the waterfalls is completely free of charge.
  • The Walk: From the parking area, a short downhill path leads you into the gorge. The stone path can be uneven and very slippery when wet, so sturdy, non-slip footwear is essential.
What to See: Key Highlights

The main attraction is the serene natural environment.

  • The Waterfalls: When flowing, the main waterfall and several smaller cascades create a beautiful scene. The best time to see significant water is after the winter rains, from spring until early summer (April-June).
  • The Lush Gorge: Even if the water flow is low, the gorge itself is beautiful – a cool, green, and shaded escape filled with the sounds of nature.
  • The Well: Near the entrance to the path is a well related to the local myths, said to be the spot where the Nymphs could be seen.
