In-Depth Guide & Details

Getting There & Location

Reaching the summit is primarily done by road and requires confident driving.

  • By Car/Scooter: This is the only practical way to reach the top. The road is paved all the way but becomes very narrow, steep, and full of hairpin bends for the final ascent. Drive slowly and be prepared to give way.
  • Parking: There is a small, limited parking area at the very top, next to the monastery – most parking is along the road leading up to the monastery.
  • Organised Tours: Many “Jeep Safari” style tours include a trip up Mount Pantokrator, which is a great, stress-free option.

Tickets & Access
  • Tickets: It is completely free to visit the summit and enter the monastery.
  • Access: Once you have parked your vehicle, the monastery and main viewing areas are on flat ground and are very easy to walk around.
What to See at the Summit

The main attractions are the incredible views and the historic monastery.

  • The Panoramic View: The undisputed main event. Walk around the summit to see Corfu Town to the south, the dramatic cliffs of the north coast, the entire Albanian coastline, and mainland Greece.
  • Monastery of the Transfiguration: At the peak stands a beautiful 17th-century monastery, built on the ruins of an earlier one. You can step inside its peaceful courtyard and ornate chapel. Please be respectful as it is an active place of worship.
  • The Drive Itself: The journey is part of the experience, taking you through traditional, stone-built mountain villages like Strinilas, which are famous for their rustic tavernas.
