Agios Spyridon Beach

Agios Spyridon Beach

Overview

Surrounded by dramatic cliffs and lush greenery, it is clear to see why the crystal clear waters of Agios Spyridon beach are a popular option for tourists and locals in Corfu. The beach itself is a mixture of sand and pebbles, but unlike some of Paleokastritsa’s rockier beaches, Agios Spyridon offers a more comfortable shoreline.

Location – Where to Find It

Agios Spyridon Beach is located in Paleokastritsa, on Corfu’s northwest coast. It’s about 25 km from Corfu Town, making it an easy day trip for visitors staying in the island’s capital. The drive takes around 35 minutes, winding through lush landscapes and traditional villages before revealing stunning coastal views.

Water Depth & Safety

  • The waters are shallow near the shore, making it safe for families and casual swimmers.
  • The slope does not suddenly drop, however the sea does get deeper quickly.
  • Lifeguards may not always be present, so be mindful of conditions and your swimming limits.

Amenities

Agios Spyridon Beach is well-equipped. There are sunbeds & umbrellas for rent at one end of the beach, as well as water sports (kayaking, paddleboarding, snorkeling) available too. Boat hire is an option for those wanting to explore more of the secluded coastline and for those wanting a taste of what’s below the surface, there is a glass bottom submarine too! Tavernas & beach bars serving fresh seafood and cocktails are situated in the area, as is the Corfu Aquarium.

Getting There – Parking, Accessibility & Transport

Things to keep in mind before visiting

  • The beach is small compared to other Corfu beaches, so it can feel crowded during peak season. Arriving early ensures you get a good spot.
  • Due to its popularity, boats frequently pass through the area, which can sometimes disturb swimmers. If you prefer a quieter swim, consider visiting in the morning.
  • There’s limited natural shade, so bringing an umbrella or hat is a good idea, especially in the midday heat.
  • While parking is available, it fills up quickly in peak months. If you’re driving, arrive early or consider alternative transport options.
  • While Agios Spyridon has great restaurants and bars, it’s not a party hotspot. If you’re looking for lively nightlife, you may need to head to Sidari or Kassiopi.
  • During peak season, sunbeds and umbrellas can fill up quickly. Arriving early ensures you get a good spot.
  • While Agios Spyridon is not overly crowded, July and August bring more visitors. If you prefer a quieter experience, consider visiting in May, June, or September.

Final Verdict

  • Best for: Travelers who love scenic beauty, adventure, and a mix of relaxation and activity.
  • Best time to go: May to October, with June to September being the warmest months.
  • Crowds? Popular but not overwhelming, making it perfect for a relaxed beach experience.
