The beach is part of Gouvia village, which provides a full range of amenities and nearby attractions, including the modern Gouvia Marina and the historic Venetian shipyard ruins.

Where Is It?

Gouvia Beach is conveniently situated approximately 7 kilometres north of Corfu Town. The beach is nestled within the vibrant village of Gouvia, known for its extensive tourist infrastructure. The drive from Corfu Town is very short, typically taking around 15 minutes.

Water Depth & Safety

  • The water is very shallow near the shore, making it exceptionally safe for children and less confident swimmers.

  • The clear waters are pleasant for swimming and snorkelling.
  • No official lifeguard service is present, so visitors should swim mindfully.

Amenities

Gouvia Beach offers a good range of facilities to ensure a comfortable visit. The beach is partly organized with sections offering sunbeds and umbrellas for rent. You will find numerous tavernas, cafes, and bars right behind the beach for food and drinks. The nearby Gouvia Marina also provides opportunities for boat rentals and excursions.

Getting There – Parking, Accessibility & Transport

  • Parking: There is a free public parking area conveniently located right beside the beach, though it can fill up in peak season.
  • Accessibility: The beach is very easy to access. It is flat and located just off the main road, with no steep paths or stairs, making it suitable for all.

Things to Keep in Mind Before Visiting

  1. Pebbly Terrain: The beach is mostly shingle and pebbles, not sand. Water shoes are highly recommended for comfort, especially when entering the sea.
  2. Size & Crowds: Gouvia is a relatively small beach and can get quite busy in July and August. Arrive early to secure a good spot in the organized sections.
  3. Boat Traffic: Its proximity to one of the island’s largest marinas means there is frequent boat activity in the bay.

  • Best time to go: May, June, or September for fewer crowds. July and August are livelier but busier.
