In-Depth Guide & Details

Location & Getting Around Acharavi

Acharavi is located on the central point of Corfu's north coast, approximately 38 km from Corfu Town and the airport. It sits directly to the east of Roda and serves as a gateway to the wilder landscapes towards the east. The main road of the resort runs parallel to the beach, acting as its vibrant spine. The drive from Corfu Town takes just under an hour.

  • Parking: While the main road can be busy, there is ample on-street parking along the beach road and down the many side streets leading off the main strip.
  • Accessibility: Acharavi is very flat, especially the main road and the beachfront, making it extremely accessible for pushchairs and visitors with mobility challenges.

Key Attractions & Features
  • The Expansive Beach: A huge 3km long beach of sand and shingle that offers plenty of space for everyone. The waters are generally shallow, making it particularly suitable for families. For full details, see our guide to Acharavi Beach.
  • The Main Strip: The bustling main road is lined with an incredible variety of shops, large supermarkets, cafes, bars, and restaurants catering to all tastes and budgets.
Amenities & What to Expect
Acharavi's amenities are second to none in the north. As a working town, it boasts facilities not always found in other resorts, including banks, a post office, and larger brand supermarkets alongside local mini-markets. The choice of restaurants is vast, from traditional Greek tavernas on the seafront to international cuisine, fast food, and cocktail bars along the main strip. Accommodation is plentiful, with a wide selection of hotels, apartment complexes, and private villas.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the beach like in Acharavi?

Acharavi has a very long (3km) beach made of sand and shingle. It has a gentle slope into the sea, with shallow water that is excellent for families and less confident swimmers.

Is Acharavi a party town?

No. While it has a lively main street with plenty of bars and restaurants, it is much more relaxed than party resorts like Kavos or Sidari. The atmosphere is geared towards family-friendly dining and relaxed evening drinks.

What's the difference between Acharavi and Roda?

They are right next to each other and share a similar long beach. Acharavi is larger and feels more like a proper town with bigger supermarkets and more services, while Roda is slightly smaller and feels more like a dedicated holiday resort.

Reviews of Acharavi

Perfect for a Relaxing Family Holiday!

August 23, 2025

We just got back from a week in Acharavi with our two young children and it was absolutely perfect. The beach is huge and the water is so shallow and calm, which was a huge relief for us as parents. We loved that it felt like a real town with proper supermarkets and a great choice of restaurants, not just a tourist strip. It was the ideal, stress-free base for our Corfu adventure. Highly recommend for families!
