Witness the thrilling "Lampatines" fire-jumping in Kynopiastes on June 23-24! A major two-day festival with live music, dancing, and unique local traditions.
The Kynopiastes Festival (June 23–24) is one of the most exciting events of the summer. Celebrating the Feast of Saint John, it features the ancient “Lampatines” tradition: locals light large bonfires and jump over them for luck and purification. Beyond the fire-jumping, Kynopiastes (home to the famous Taverna Tripa) is a village deeply rooted in music and gastronomy. This two-day event is packed with live folk orchestras and is one of the best places on the island to see traditional costumes and complex village dances.
