The August 11th Litany is one of the most significant religious and cultural events in Corfu. It commemorates the 1716 miracle where St. Spyridon is said to have saved the island from a month-long Turkish siege by appearing as a monk with a torch, causing panic among the invaders.

The procession begins at 9:00 AM from the Saint Spyridon Church. It is a breathtaking sight: the sacred relics of the Saint are carried through the historic Liston and the narrow kantounia of the Old Town, accompanied by the majestic sounds of nearly 20 philharmonic bands.
