Corfu Bus: Top Tips for a Smooth Journey

  • Cash is King: Always carry euros, especially for Green Buses. You cannot pay with a card on the bus.
  • Flag the Bus: Wave clearly as the bus approaches. They don't automatically stop at every stop.
  • Check Timetables: Schedules change between summer and winter. Always check the official website before you travel.
  • Luggage: Large suitcases go in the under-bus storage on Green Buses. Small bags can be taken on board.

Essential Bus FAQs

How do I get from the Airport to Paleokastritsa/Sidari/Kavos?
This is a two-step journey. First, take the Blue Bus (No. 15) from the airport to the KTEL Green Bus Terminal. From there, you will buy a separate ticket and catch the specific Green Bus to your destination.
Can I take a large suitcase on the bus?
Yes. On the long-distance Green Buses, large suitcases are stored in the luggage compartment underneath the bus. On local Blue Buses, you can usually find space for them, but it can be difficult if the bus is crowded.
How do I signal the bus to stop?
To get on: Wave your arm clearly as the bus approaches the stop. To get off: Press one of the red "STOP" buttons located on the poles inside the bus before your stop.
Is there a real-time bus app for Corfu?
The official bus companies do not have reliable real-time tracking apps. It is best to use the official timetables and arrive at the bus stop 5-10 minutes early.
Can I pay with a credit card on the bus?
No. Bus travel in Corfu is a cash-based system. It's essential to carry euros, especially for Green Buses. Blue Bus tickets can be bought from machines at major stops.

Services are very limited after 10 PM. For late-night travel, taxis or pre-booked transfers are your only reliable options.
Are Uber or Lyft available in Corfu?

Buses are great, but hiring a car or booking a transfer gives you the ultimate freedom to explore hidden coves and mountain villages on your own schedule.
