Doukades Village
Overview
Doukades is widely regarded as one of Corfu’s most beautiful and authentic traditional villages. A protected settlement, it has preserved its stunning Venetian architecture, stone-built houses, and narrow, car-free lanes. The village’s heart and soul is its magnificent central square, or *plateia*, shaded by an ancient plane tree and ringed by colourful neoclassical buildings. This square is not just a landmark; it’s a renowned culinary destination, drawing visitors and locals alike to its excellent tavernas. A visit to Doukades is a step back into a more gracious and picturesque Corfu.
Location
Doukades is located in the hills of north-west Corfu, serving as a gateway to the famous beauty spot of Paleokastritsa. It is approximately 19 km from Corfu Town. The drive is a pleasant journey of around 30 minutes through the lush Corfiot countryside, leading directly to the village entrance.

Amenities
Amenities in Doukades are famously centered on its square. It is home to three or four exceptional, family-run tavernas that are destinations in their own right, serving high-quality, traditional Corfiot food. The village also has a local bakery, a kafenion, and a mini-market for essentials. It’s a culinary hub disguised as a sleepy village.
Getting There – Parking, Accessibility & Transport
- Parking: The village square is pedestrianized. There is free parking here and here, although aware that it can get busy in the evenings.
