An Overview of Kokkini: Amanda Holden & Alan Carr’s Corfu Gem

Nestled amidst the lush olive groves and rolling hills of North East Corfu, the charming village of Kokkini (also known locally as Kokkokilas or Kokkini-St. Stephanos) has shot to fame as the picturesque backdrop for the much-loved BBC series, “Amanda & Alan’s Greek Job.” This isn’t the central Corfu village near the Aqua Park; this is the authentic, tranquil Kokkini that captured the hearts of Amanda Holden and Alan Carr, and now, a growing number of viewers.

This traditional Corfiot village offers a glimpse into authentic island life, away from the bustling tourist hubs. With its stone houses, winding lanes, and breathtaking views of the Ionian Sea, Kokkini is the epitome of Greek charm. Fans of the show will recognize the stunning scenery and the genuine local atmosphere that makes this corner of Corfu so special. Whether you’re visiting to retrace Amanda and Alan’s footsteps or simply to discover a truly unspoiled part of the island, Kokkini promises a memorable and serene experience.

THE REVEAL

Inside the Renovation: Villa Alamanda

Originally a dilapidated barn that was “more ruin than house,” the star of the BBC series underwent a Herculean transformation in the summer of 2025. Over three intense months, the structure was reborn as Villa Alamanda—a 145 m² masterclass in Mediterranean ‘shabby-chic’ design.

The Design Specification

The villa features a traditional ‘bodzo’ (external stone staircase) visible from the village lanes. Inside, the 19th-century soul of the building was preserved through hand-laid stone flagged floors and a country-style kitchen boasting high-timbered ceilings and bespoke marble worktops.

The upper floor houses two double bedrooms with sea views and an artisan bathroom with a custom-built circular bathtub.

The Valuation Revealed

Market Value: €675,000

Upon its completion in 2026, the 145 m² home (sitting on a 326 m² plot) was professionally valued at €675,000 (approx. £585,000). Following the show’s tradition, proceeds from the eventual sale are dedicated to UK charities, including Children in Need and Comic Relief.

IN-DEPTH GUIDE & DETAILS

Where Exactly is Kokkini (North East Corfu)?

It’s important to clarify the location of the “Amanda & Alan’s Greek Job” village, as there can be confusion with another Kokkini near central Corfu’s Aqua Park. The village featured on the BBC series is located in the stunning North East region of Corfu, often referred to as Kokkokilas, Kokkini North, or Kokkini-St. Stephanos.

This charming hamlet sits high in the hills above the popular coastal resort of  St. Stephanos (Agios Stefanos NE), offering breathtaking panoramic views of the coastline, the sparkling Ionian Sea, and even glimpses of the Albanian mountains. It’s an area renowned for its unspoiled natural beauty, traditional villages, and serene atmosphere, making it a perfect spot for those seeking an authentic Corfiot experience.

By Car (Highly Recommended)

Driving is by far the best way to reach Kokkini (North East). This scenic journey takes you through the beautiful Corfiot countryside, past olive groves and traditional hamlets. A car provides the flexibility to explore not just Kokkini but also the charming nearby coastal villages like St. Stephanos and Kassiopi, and to visit the stunning BEACHES of the North East. Parking within the village is informal, typically along the roadside where safe and permitted. Use GPS to navigate to “Kokkokilas” or “Agios Stefanos Sinies” and then follow local signs for Kokkini/Kokkokilas.

By Taxi or Private Transfer

For a hassle-free journey, especially if you’re coming directly from Corfu Airport or another part of the island, a private taxi or pre-booked transfer is an excellent option. This allows you to sit back and enjoy the scenery without worrying about navigation. Be sure to specify “Kokkini (North East)” or “Kokkokilas near St. Stephanos” when booking to ensure you reach the correct destination.

By Bus (Limited Options)

Public bus services to the North East of Corfu are less frequent and typically serve larger towns and coastal resorts. While you can take a Green Bus (KTEL) towards destinations like Kassiopi or Agios Stephanos, you would likely need a further taxi ride or a significant walk to reach the heart of Kokkini (North East). For direct access and flexibility, a car or private transfer is strongly advised.
